In the morning, a short flight (about 35 minutes) from the Andes to the tropical rainforest to Coca (official name: San Francisco de Orellana). During the flight, you will cross the eastern Andean region, fly over the equator, and enjoy spectacular views of Ecuador’s snow-capped volcanoes. Finally, you will arrive at the edge of the Amazon rainforest, near the Napo River.
After landing at Coca airport, you will be welcomed by the lodge staff. Following a short transfer of a few minutes, the journey continues by motorized canoe. A pleasant breeze will accompany you during the nearly 2-hour trip (80 kilometers) along the most voluminous river in the Ecuadorian Amazon: the Napo River.
During this adventure, a large number of birds can be observed, including kingfishers and, with a bit of luck, ospreys. The boat will reach the northwestern edge of Yasuni National Park, where the lodge is located.
To reach the lodge, you will take a short guided walk of about 2.5 kilometers, or you will have the opportunity to paddle a canoe together with the lodge staff for approximately 1.5 hours along a river branch lined with dense palm forest. There are many chances to spot different species of monkeys and large birds such as toucans, parrots, or macaws. At the end of the walk or paddle, you will arrive at the Añangu Lagoon, where a magnificent view of the lodge awaits you.

After a buffet breakfast, experience life above the forest floor by visiting the 36-meter canopy tower. This tower is located about 30 minutes from the lodge and deep within the jungle. Get an excellent glimpse of the more than 600 bird species recorded so far, observing colorful tanagers, macaws, toucans, flycatchers, and even spider or howler monkeys feeding in the nearby trees. The canopy tower opens up a whole new and exciting world for guests of the Napo Wildlife Center.
Return to the lodge for a traditional Ecuadorian lunch. After lunch, there are many options to choose from for your afternoon activity. Climb the central tower to observe birds, paddle a kayak, or simply relax in your hammock if that’s what you enjoy most.
You may choose to walk through the marvelous Terra Firme Forest to discover the ecology and the role of plants in the complex world of the Tropical Rainforest. Vines, centuries-old trees, bromeliads, and orchids stand out in this impressive natural garden. After the walk, explore the lake and surrounding streams for a chance to encounter a family of giant otters.
At 7:30 p.m., a delicious dinner awaits you at our lodge’s restaurant.

This morning we will visit the best parrot clay licks in Ecuador. An early start will allow us to see various creatures as we paddle downstream along the Añangu stream to the welcome area. Then, we’ll take a 10-minute motorized canoe ride for a beautiful view of thousands of parrots such as the mealy Amazon, blue-headed, and orange-cheeked parrots, among others, landing on the natural formation by the river to eat a bit of clay.
Later, we return to the welcome area and begin a short walk to the parakeet clay lick. Here, hundreds of white-winged parakeets huddle in the trees, waiting for the bolder members of the flock to decide it’s the right moment to extract minerals from the clay. Marvel as they take turns landing on this clay lick in a burst of color and sound.
Lunch at the Napo Cultural Center. In the afternoon, visit the interpretation area to learn about the traditions of the ancestral Kichwa community of Añangu through songs, dances, and conversations. Then, return to the lodge in the late afternoon. We will welcome you with a refreshing fruit drink and dinner at 7:30 p.m.

This morning we will walk along the Tiputini trail. We will enjoy the mix of terra firme forest and swamps as we search for more wildlife, such as golden-mantled tamarins, white-faced capuchin monkeys, two- and three-toed sloths, pygmy squirrels, and perhaps even the tracks of a carnivore on the forest floor.
We will return to the lodge for lunch and enjoy a well-deserved rest. In the afternoon, paddle canoes will take you to deeper areas of the surrounding streams, offering greater chances to spot unique wildlife such as the hoatzin. After dinner, we will gather to talk and share our experiences about the community and the Napo Wildlife Center.
