Playa Tortuga Bay ( Santa Cruz Island )

Tortuga Bay is one of the most famous and spectacular beaches in the Galapagos. It is famous for its white sand and turquoise water. It is an ideal place to swim, snorkel, watch seabirds and, if you are on your lucky day, you might encounter some sea turtles.

Tourists and visitors can visit the resort from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Sunday and admission is free of charge.

EL Garrapatero beach (Santa Cruz Island))

Another charming beach on Santa Cruz Island. It has calm and crystalline waters, it is surrounded by mangroves and tropical vegetation, you can find flamingos as it is quite frequented by them, especially in the nearby lagoon, it is possible to find sea turtles, shorebirds, lizards and land birds. It is perfect for a day of relaxation, picnicking and enjoying the natural environment, the plaanda El Garrapatero is open daily from 6:00am to 5:00pm and admission is free of charge. 

Bahía Gardner ( Española Island )

This is a beautiful beach white sandy beach of Española Island. Here you can see sea lions playing on the shore and a large number of birds, including the Galapagos albatross, you can also find green sea turtles among other species, this fauna is the main attraction of the beach apart from its spectacular white sand. The entrance to Gardner Bay is free of charge and its opening hours like all the beaches in Galapagos from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.   

Puerto Chino beach ( San Cristobal Island )

Puerto Chino Beach is another gem of the Galapagos Islands, a more remote beach located on San Cristobal Island. Here you can enjoy a quiet environment, clear waters and you may find marine iguanas and shorebirds, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the marine life. There is no entrance fee and you can visit from 6:00am to 5.00pm. 

Charles Darwin Station Beach ( Santa Cruz Island )

This beach is famous for being the place where Charles Darwin landed when he first arrived in the Galapagos in 1835. It is a historic site and also offers excellent opportunities for diving and snorkeling for its variety of fish, turtles, marine iguanas and sea lions. Because of its large number of rocks, special care should be taken where you walk. It is named after the Charles Darwin Research Station, which is a research and conservation institution. The public can visit this beach every day from 6:00am to 5:00pm free of charge. 

To enjoy a day at the beach in Galapagos, it is essential to bring some items and consider certain precautions to ensure a safe and respectful experience with the local ecosystem, we recommend a list of things you can bring:

  • Sunscreen: The sun in Galapagos is quite strong, so be sure to bring a broad-spectrum sunscreen with high SPF to protect your skin from UV damage.
