DAY 1, Flight to Baltra / Santa Cruz Island – Upper Part
In the morning we will have transfer to the airport to take the flight to Galapagos. Once in Baltra, our specialized guide will pick you up at the airport to start the tour. On your first day you will visit the upper part of the Santa Cruz Island, on the way you will observe the change of dry vegetation in the lower part, to a tropical humid forest in the upper part. The characteristic trees in the upper part are the Escalecias and the Palo Santos.
Here you will visit a farm, in this place you will have the opportunity to observe the famous giant tortoises in their natural environment. After the tour you will enjoy a typical lunch. You will continue your journey towards an impressive tunnel almost 300 meters long, formed by lava flows (the outer part of the lava cooled faster than the inner part and therefore this tunnel was formed). Arrival in the afternoon at the hotel in Puerto Ayora.
DAY 2, Tortuga Bay / Charles Darwin Station
Today, in the morning we will have a transfer and guided tour to Tortuga Bay beach, considered one of the most attractive in South America.
Tortuga Bay is a white sand beach accessible through a path surrounded by bushes. Tortuga Bay is famous for its long, pristine coastline that gradually slopes towards the sea. It's a great place to swim, kayak, or just relax and sunbathe with marine iguanas.
Then you will take a short walk through the Charles Darwin Station: scientists from all over the world gather here for environmental protection projects (such as water analysis, animal welfare, tourism influences). Here you can visit the turtle hatchery, where the animals are raised before being released back into the wild.
DAY 3, Snorkeling Tour and Fishing Demonstration
Today you will participate in a yacht excursion to Pinzon islet. This excursion is not private and is done in the company of other guests (maximum 12 passengers per boat). In the afternoon, you can enjoy free time in Puerto Ayora .
To visit Pinzon Islet we will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 am to take you to the Itabaca Channel on Santa Cruz Island where you will board a boat, the journey from Puerto Ayora to the Itabaca Channel is approximately 45 minutes. From the Itabaca Channel, you will go to Islote Pinzon, a 25-minute boat trip.
Once on the islet, you will snorkel for about 45 minutes and watch some birds from the boat, specifically seabirds such as blue-footed and masked boobies and frigatebirds. We will also have a demonstration of artisanal fishing, as done by Galapagos fishermen.
DAY 4, Transfer Out (Flight to Quito)
After breakfast, you will head to Baltra airport to take your plane back to Ecuador. continental.
